Bra shopping yesterday. It drives me crazy when I find a bra I like and then it gets discontinued. Next to dropping acid, buying bras is one of my least favorite things to do. I feel like a tactilely defensive autistic kid when my bra doesn't fit properly; I can't focus on anything, I become an irritable bitch, and I just want to flap my hands and spin around in circles. Several years ago I switched from buying bras at Macy's (where there are far too many brands and choices) and starting shopping at Victoria's Secret where I always end up with the least sexy, full coverage, underwire bra they sell. I usually buy two white bras and two black bras and wear them until they have lost anything remotely close to support and are so disgusting that I'm ashamed to show the shop girl so that she might find me the same style which of course is not longer in stock.
Yesterday I went into Macy's first, mainly because I wanted to spritz myself with Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere, and I was immediately overwhelmed by the sheer number of bras. I wandered back out into the Gallatin Valley Mall and over to VS. I went straight to the place where a year and a half ago my favorite bras were hanging and of course they weren't there. I got the sales girl dressed in a sexy black suit with high heels and a pink tape measure around her neck to measure my bust. I always come out as a 34C, but every time I try that size on (because I feel obligated to) my boobs spill out all over the place. Then I try on the 34D and I'm still spilling out, so the girl brings me a 34DD and, voila, a perfect fit--which is totally freaking me out because I really do look like a 34C. But hey, a good fit is a good fit. While I'm waiting for the sales girl to bring me a couple of selections to try on (a demi bra even though I know I can't bend over in one because my boobs will fall out) I try on a turquoise push up bra left in the dressing room by the previous shopper. Oh man, do I have great tits in the turquoise push up--I quickly take it off before the sales girl comes back with my sensible full coverage underwire support selections.
I end up buying two bras, a plain black one (34DD) and a lacy (full coverage) black bra (just a single D), but no white bras which was really what I needed in the first place, and three new pair of underwear (I hate it when people call them panties). I'm not sure what to do about the white bras, because I don't think I can go back for at least another year.
